Is your bookcase constantly overflowing?
Do you like to read the latest best sellers, but never re-read them again?
Whether you are buying books or want to sell them, check out eBay’s lesser known sister company Half.com. I am always surprised to find out that many people aren’t aware of this part of eBay.
You can find used books for about half the regular price. You can sell your books, too! This site uses your ebay account if you already have one.

Sell your books
To list a book you want to sell, search for it and click the “Sell my copy” on the right hand side. Fill out the condition information, and it will suggest a price. There is a standard per book shipping fee you can’t control added to every book to help you recover your shipping costs when selling. Books are always shipped “book rate”.
Worth noting: Your listed book stays in your inventory until it is sold or you decide to cancel the listing. It is not auction style like eBay.
I have used half.com for over 5 years for both buying and selling books, DVDs, music CDs, and video games.
It’s a great deal for both buyers and sellers.

My wife is going to go mad. This just looks like a really easy way for me to fill the whole house with books.
Excellent find!

Thanks for stopping by Ray. Remember to balance out the buying and selling to stay out of trouble. LOL
I am a book “hoarder” lol.. I use the excuse I have other kids.. eventually I am going to run out of excuses and take you up on your advice!
I sell more of the books I read..not the kids’ books yet since the 4 year old still has to use them all.
I’ll definitely look into half.com – perhaps more for buying than selling. I still don’t have all the books I need to do the work I do appropriately; better translations of Plato are a priority.

I have even found technical books I was looking for. It is a great savings most of the time.
First time of getting to know of half.com. As a book addict I never really think of selling off once I acquire them. But do hope this will help get some more books at a lower cost! Thanks for sharing.

It is a great for buying older books at a significant discount. I tend to be a few years behind on the best sellers list.
Can people in the UK use this site (half.com) or is it just for the USA?

I’m not sure. I’m thinking just the US. I went on my account to see if there was anything about international shipping, and it looks like it is US only. I guess the idea of saving money wouldn’t make sense if you had to pay for overseas shipping.
Wonderful article Melinda.
I’ve been thinking about selling the books that has been stocked up in our attic for years. I read
in one blogsite that besides getting my house cleaned up- i can make more money with my old books – by selling them online.
How cool it would be! I’ll be earning money, get rid of those huge boxes piled up in our attic and get our that room in better use. Btw, here’s the blogsite that shares about almost everything (i think) about selling used books online.
